Restrepo by Sebastian Junger (2010) The Diplomat by David Holbrooke (2015) Les Voyageurs Sans Trace by Ian McCluskey (2015), McCluskey partners with adventure guides, Paul Kuthe and Kate Ross-Kuthe, to retrace a 1938 river trip—the first successful kayaking of the Colorado (and apparently some of the first ever color footage of the Colorado)—in juxtaposition with the River in 2012. http://www.frenchkayakfilm.com/ ![]() Our morning objective for Friday was a symposium on Afghanistan—including films, discussion, slide shows—by both Afghani photographers and American journalists. The Telluride Mountain Film festival principal organizer is filmmaker David Holbrook, the gangly, amiable, and brilliant son of the late Richard Holbrook. Among the presenters was Afghani photo journalist, Massoud Hossaini , who was born during the Soviet occupation. Here’s his Pulitzer-prize winning photo (most of the kids surrounding the “woman in a green dress” are dead). Katie Lee is also in town for TMF. She’s a regular spitfire…still going strong in her early 90s. As you probably know, she was an early activist and friend of Ed Abbey. She was on hand for an opening of historical Colorado River photos at the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art. https://www.mountainfilm.org/festival/personalities/katie-lee We're launching a blog on the site to support conversations and feedback about our experiences in the Colorado River Basin.
